Description: Aerial lifts provide a mobile working platform and a means to carry construction tools and personnel to a raised working position. This course focuses on the commonly used types of aerial lifts in the electrical industry and their safe use on a worksite. Upon successful completion of this course, the worker will be able to:
Identify common accidents caused while operating an aerial lift
Identify the types of safety equipment required on aerial work platforms
Demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment including fall protection
Explain how to prevent falls and other accidents while using aerial work platforms
Identify factors that affect lift stability
Identify how equipment limitations affect aerial lift selection
Explain the basic system components and safe operating procedures for aerial work platforms
Demonstrate safe operation of articulated boom
Demonstrate safe operation of scissors lift
